These terms govern the use of the Tide Data API and the website tide-data.com.

Service description

Tide Data provides a REST API delivering tide predictions (times, water heights, coefficients) for ports along the French coastline. Data is sourced from SHOM (Service Hydrographique et Oceanographique de la Marine).

Account and API key

API access requires an API key obtained by signing up with a valid email address. Each email address is entitled to one API key. The free trial is limited to 30 days and 1,000 requests per month.

Acceptable use

  • Do not resell raw API data without significant transformation
  • Do not exceed the request limits of your plan
  • Do not attempt to circumvent authentication or rate-limiting mechanisms
  • Do not use the API for unlawful activities

Attribution

Data is sourced from SHOM. Any public use of the data must credit the source: "SHOM data via Tide Data".

Disclaimer of warranty

Tide predictions are provided for informational purposes only. They must not be used for navigation safety. Tide Data does not guarantee the absolute accuracy of the data or continuous availability of the service.

Limitation of liability

Tide Data shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damages resulting from the use or inability to use the service. Tide Data's total liability is limited to the amount paid by the user in the preceding 12 months.

Termination

Tide Data reserves the right to revoke an API key in case of violation of these terms or abusive use of the service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute shall be subject to the jurisdiction of French courts.

Changes

Tide Data reserves the right to modify these terms. Continued use of the service after modification constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
